So…we have been asked by our storage team to investigate turning encryption off on smats.

IF we do this…..what are the implications to the SMATDB tool for viewing SMATdbs historically encrypted ?

How often do you delete your smat files?  We delete anything older than 21 days.

I don’t have an answer; my guess is you will not be able to read the encrypted SMAT DBs after you have disabled encryption.

But I am curious: why does the storage team want you to turn off encryption?

You can use the SQLite command line utility to dump the smatdb databases and then create an unencrypted database and reimport the data.
