Has anybody else seen this ?

I have done several different things.

And many times the testing tool just goes off into space.

I have to go to the command line and kill the process, or shutdown the gui to do any more testing as the output is hung by that process.

Does anyone know of any magic setting that could fix this ?

I’m tempted to go back to 5.5 lots fewer issues.

          John,

          Cloverleaf 5.6R2,

At times the Testing tool (at least HL7 and Xlate) does not reply.

I personally do not think this is an issue with Cloverleaf (I have not done any extensive troubleshooting).

The reason I say that is I notice some other ‘network’ (maybe vpn since I work remotely) issues at the same time.

After some time passes (normally measured in days , weeks, months) all starts working again – with no modifications to the Cloverleaf environment.

In the meantime, I just swipe the command and paste it on an Xterm command line and move on.

Our network/vpn folks are not very accomodating and I don’t have the time to waste getting them to assist with narrowing this issue down I just keep getting work done.

My personal belief is the GUI is timing out (I see delays with other softwar I am using via the VPN that exhibit the same behavior).

Anyway that is my .02 worth.

Thru the VPN connection, have been experiencing the IDE Testing tool not returning when initiating a test. the other item that does not return is  using the IDE database tool.   command line works great.  but for some, they like to indicate they can’t get things done if not using the IDE.   Other related use such as Monitor,  site daemons or SMAT don’t go off into never land.

Remote Desktop is one way that helps reduce the VPN impact that I use since I telecommute 2 days per week.

In my case, I have everything loaded on my desktop at work that is inside the instituional firewall.

When I’m at home I login with my home PC thru the VPN but don’t run anything local on that PC.

Instead I remote desktop to my PC at work inside the instituion firewall and run the IDE on that remote PC via remote desktop.

This way I avoid some of the issues from the past with VPN issues, plus I no longer have to install company stuff on my persoanl PC at home.

In Jim’s case as a full time telecommuter, he has no PC to remote desktop to inside the instituional firewall and has to run the IDE local from his PC at home.
