We have a connection to a vendor(Passport) who verifies insurance eligibility, and we are having issiues with our inbound thread, that it won’t send as back any messages untill we rebounce the process from our side.

I’ve checked the error logs, and really do not see any issues or errors which would cause this.  The really mind boggling part is this happening is very inconsistent.

It happens anytime between 6:00am to 8: 10am (which is when someone comes in and starts checking logs, scripts and interfaces).  I have contacted the vendor who states that they are seeing a socket error when trying to send back a message to us.

So whwn ever this happens we have to re-cycle the process.

Any advice?  Any thing I should be checking?

We are running Cloverleaf 5.4.1 on a Windows 2003 Server in case that helps.

Is it by chance the first message of the day ?

Are you running over a VPN ?

Then it will most likely be a timeout some where in the pipe.

Getting the Firewall and VPN people to find it has always been an issue.

I would ask both groups and check your system for the TCP_Keepidle setting.

I’m pretty sure you will find info on clovertech about it but you can also search with Google to find more information on it.

I have had to use several work around

1> send a keep alive message every 60 minutes that they can ignore.

2> cycle the thread so it renews the connection.

Only once have I actually got the firewall guys to fix what really should be fixed.

              Good Luck.
