We’ve been using Linux since 2003.

Works great for us.  We have our installation of Cloverleaf 5.21 on RedHat 2.1 on an IBM x345.  We have 4 disks using RAID 5 on a ServeRaid 6i controller.  I have 2.5GB ram and 2 Xeon 3.06Ghz processors.

Only problem was a kernel oops about a month ago, that we wern’t able to figure out.

I like the flexibility of the platform, scripting options, and the ability to connect and expose connections in various filesystems.  I have shares on the server that allow SMAT files to look like they are local to my workstation.  I can pop them up in my Text Editor and search for anything.  I’m connected to our Novell server’s fileshares, allowing for automated backup of our sites, and can connect to NFS fileshares from our larger RS6000 servers as well.

The bang for the buck is extraordinary.
