I tend to agree with you, but I can also tell you that McKesson has been doing it that way for years.
We implemented Pathways Homecare back in 1999, using HBOCHI 2.2 (I think, we don’t do Home Health anymore) and we had the same discussion. The field you prefer was used more generically, like D for Doctor or S for Staff.
I had to write it off as one of those vendor interpretation idiosyncrasies….
