We have seen this periodically occur where after issuing hcisitectl -K on a site and seeing it is not running and no process for hcimonitord is running, that it seems to start a new process within a minute.

We are removing the hcimonitord/pid and cmd_port files.

Initially we did not realize this was occurring sometimes and so we ended up with 2 hcimonitord daemons running.

today I had the issue, luckily on a non-prod site.   We finally got it to shutdown and stay down (so I can do site cleanup) after turning off all the non prod sites.

I am cycling the hcimonitord logs weekly via a script.

      any suggestions are appreciated

If you have Global Monitor there’s an option that automatically starts monitor daemons that are down. in System preferences

thanks – that was the issue.  Some time ago, we were looking at global monitor and did not realize it was still up.  I have changed the setting to not auto start the monitord daemons.  The interval setting was the amount of time I had seen it restart
