I have never worked with X12 messages before.

I am trying to setup a thread to receive an X12 message.

      Protocol is PROTOCOL:tcpip

Trx ID determination Format is X12

On the TCP/IP Protocol Properties page I am not sure how to set it up

      Presently I have

TCP/IP type is server with a port number

      Data Options

      Type ASCII

      Length 8

      Justification Left

      Length Calculations Exclusive

      everything else is default

Running this we get the following.

[tcp :wrte:ERR /0:epicToExperianIn_tcp1:07/11/2018 08:59:05] Length decode failed: Unable to scan number from encoding

How do I know which data options to select?

      Thanks in advance

          Hi Gene,

I have worked with X12 but only as file input and file outputs, but can you use the protocol pdl-tcpip instead of the tcpip where you don’t need to define those parameters? We normally use mlp_tcp.pdl as the default PDL options.

For receiving the inbound x12  as a file, I needed  two TPS Inbound Data tcls, one I wrote to remove the carriage return – if there is one on your file and the other is to use this cloverleaf tcl:   hciX12splitinterchange.

Hope this helps a little. Brenda
