Using field searches in Smat DBs

In the SMAT DB window, I chose Admit Date/Time(PV1.44) in the Content text box, set the desired date value (20180306), added historic dated smat db’s to the search in an attempt to find all admit date/time stamps in messages dating back to March 2nd (and the date at this writing was March 6th).

Every occurrence of “20180306” in each message was highlighted, including PV1.44.  Additionally, only messages with 20180306 in MSH.7 were selected.  I thought that selecting a specific field was supposed to create a focused search that ignored the rest of the message.  It seems to negate the use of some fields as search fields…is this due to the lack of an index file for the Admit Date/Time field?
