We’re looking into upgrading to CL6.2, which has me reading the 6.2 install guide, where I ran across the Portable Client.

Anyone have any experience using this?  It’s not clear how this differs from the standard client gui.  There’s also a Mac OS version.

      From the install guide:

Included with the CIS 6.2 build files is the Portable Client. This contains all client files in a Cloverleaf

Portable.exe file. This file is much smaller than the Client/Server install.

This is installed similar to Cloverleaf:

1 Unzip the file to a folder. This contains the CloverleafPortable.exe file and an integrator

      folder.

2 Double-click CloverleafPortable.exe to launch the IDE in the integrator folder.

      Features of the portable Client:

It differs from the standard GUI in that there is no installer.  You can just unzip it and run it.  This allows us to support multiple versions of the IDE on the same machine.  (e.g. 6.2.0 and 6.2.1)

            Steve,

I have used the Portable Client and have found that it works very well. However, be aware that the current version does not support CAA-WS (Cloverleaf Web Services). So you will not be able to access the sites that use CAA-WS; you get a Java error when you try to open NetConfig or Network Monitor for example.

Hopefully Infor will address this in the next release.

@Levy: recently installed CL6.2.3 for testing purposes. Portable client works with CAA-WS as well. Don’t think we installed something (driver/plugin) extra for that.

Also upgraded to basic security with this new version and using an LDAP-connection. It works, but every day I get an error that my password is incorrect and I can;t log in. Restarting the hostserver solves the problem, but that is not a workable situation with multiple developers. Not sure if the portable client has anything to do with it. Will need to investigate further.
