We’ve done similar upgrades (5.8 -> 6.1.2 -> 6.1.2.5). We don’t do as extensive testing on minor version upgrades, but we do test.

I doubt that you can have clients for both versions on one PC. We’ve got Citrix available, so I’d get one version on Citrix and one on my desktop PC. If you don’t have Citrix, you could probably just load the other version on another PC (or VM) and remote desktop to the PC when you need to run it.
