Is anyone connecting from Cerner to Cloverleaf Web services and then to a state immunization registry?

      Hi David,

Here ThePowersThatBe specifically decided not to do our imm registries through Cloverleaf, but I’m interested to find out what your experience is…

Here they’re going to have Cerner develop a point-to-point because we don’t have the Cloverleaf Web Services add-on, and Cerner already has IBM WebSphere/Web App Services installed at our location.

If that changes, I’ll follow up.

      Thanks.

      Hi David,

I may have to do the same and use Cloverleaf’s web service add-on for our bidirectional interface. Just wondering how far have you gotten with this…thanks

I am interested as well. We have Cerner Soarian, and I imagine that they have a web service stub that is configured upon customer request to connect to a state immunization registry. We have not seen the details.

Our concern is that, as far as we know, NYS’s immunization registry only has a file-based interface (UPHN-lite), and even if Cloverleaf was put in the middle, there would be a very long delay in getting query results back from our state registry. I’m still waiting for a response from NYS on whether they intend to create a real-time interface for their IIS.

As far as Meaningful Use, does its immunization registry objective require real-time communication? Or could we just query for immunization history upon patient registration/admission, and when the results get back, somehow send it into the Cerner Soarian Pharmacy/MAK product to be available later when the provider looks it up?

      Hey Peter,

I don’t think the state requires real-time, I say this because right now we are sending a FTP file with immunizations to them and that file gets sent once daily. I haven’t read anything required real-time for Illinois. You can always confirm with your NYS contact, but I have a feeling it’s not required.

ok that’s good news. So from a requirements standpoint we are probably good.

I’m wondering if or how the ‘query’ part of the objective will be met, especially how it is integrated with Soarian. Basically –

      – how is the query made (in Soarian? or just automatically in Cloverleaf?)

      – where are the results posted to and how?

Right now, we only store immunization data in our MAK product, which is part of Soarian Pharmacy, when an immunization is administered here. I’m not sure if the product has an inbound interface to load historical data.

We have Meditech and what I have seen and understood so far is that the user will admit a patient and have the ability to query to the state their immunizations. If there’s a patient match then the state will return the immunizations for that patient and the user can then post them to the patients chart/account.
