My question relates to processing a large flat file using the fileset-local protocol.  I just tested a data file w/ 543 records.  It processed in 45 minutes.  I noticed that the ‘Read Interval’ was set to 5 seconds.

The actual file I will be working w/ may have well over 100,000.  Perhaps even mutliples of 100,000.  After some quick calculations, even at an interval of 1 second, 100,000 would take 27.7 hours.

I guess my question is ‘Can I use a decimal value for the Read Interval?’ i.e. .1 seconds.

Or, ‘Can I remove it completely?  And, if yes, what is the impact of this?

          Ed,

Another option within the configuration is the “Max Messages”; this tells the engine the maximum number of messages to read with each “Read Interval”.

Great advice Jim!  I appreciate the help.

I’ll try it and do some more testing.
