Any one know how to cycle save the smatdb or is that not needed in the new version?  What if the database gets to large to view the messages?

The databas is simply a file  cycle as before except now only one file

If it were me, and it is not, I would write a simple script to migrate to an archival database with easy to search tables and columns

Not hard to do if you learn some SQL.  Could be SqlLite, Sql Serveror any database

Femina, the built in auto-cycling is amazing when coupled with SMAT DB and the new SMAT DB HL7 searching or functions. Using cycling and SMAT DB you can easily search across historical data and across an entire process or site.

See this discussion for a description on setting up cycling: https://usspvlclovertch2.infor.com/viewtopic.php?t=7370&highlight=cycling

Thank you gentleman for your prompt responses, can’t tell you how much I rely on this forum!  You all are wonderful.

Max, we too have migrated to 6.1.1 over the weekend and we do love the smatdb.  However, I am unable to get the auto cycle to work.  I have to go in manually and cycle save the files.  Do I need the Clean Smat scripts again and have them run from cron?  I am in the Site Preference / SMAT tab and have save to database enabled and the smat history enabled.  Number of Smatfiles to 30 and Maximum Age to 30.

Please advise, the best way to do this.

Double check that you have the site preferences correct, I default o 25 log files and 90 days of smat data. Then make sure you have the thresholds set for smat and logs for all processes in the site (NetConfig/Process menu). After that, bounce the entire site (stop all processes, stop the daemons). Then bring everything up.

You do not have to bounce the site again unless you make changes to the Site Preferences. You have to bounce the process each time you make changes to the process thresholds.

That did it!  Thank you Max.

                Max,

Can you give me an idea of a reasonable threshold in KB.  I have 75000000  and it is cycling way to often.

              • #83376

I like to default to 100000 (100mb). And then adjust accordingly. For example, if your system can easily handle larger files and you don’t want to cycle as often, then increase this number (and bounce the process).

You can use different numbers for each process.
