Does anyone know why the host server runs hcidbdump -e C and hcidbdump -r C. We had an issue where had 700K messages in error dB and the command hcidbdump -e C would hang, and slowed thigns down.
I’ve reported issue to Infor support, but wanted to hear if anyone has run into this.
We are AIX running 6.0 with Global monitor enabled.
Bob there is a GM widget that returns the count of transactions in the error and recovery DB. This is why the hostserver is running these commands. You should be able to disable this widget if you don’t need it.
How would we disable that? Infor support wasn’t helpful because they were unaware of how the host server process would be calling hcidbdump to get counts, which is what we saw, hcidbdump -e -C as child process to the host server process.
Bob the best way to do this without affecting all users’ views is to have each user remove it manually. There is a way for an administrator to apply a dashboard layout to all (or selected) users, but this will over-ride their layout if they customized it.
If you choose the latter, as an administrator, there’s a button that allows you to apply your layout to selected users and/or views.
There’s also an entry on the System preferences page to indicate how often hcidbdump is run. You can’t set this to -1 but you can set it to “1440” which would be every 24 hours.
In order to prevent hcidbdump from being executed at all, the widget needs to be removed from all user dashboards.
I have heard that you are never supposed to stop the Database Administrator, but mine appears to be hung. Is there any way to kill it or do I need to drop everything and do that database cleanup and reboot? thanks.
