We have XML messages that are very very large with the embedded PDF, and when trying to research/view them in smat, it takes a while to do a search in SMAT.

I would like to be able to remove the PDF, before the Inbound message is written to SMAT (will save the PDF to a file, but save the remaining message to SMAT).  We are on 5.8, soon to be 6.0, Linux.

How can I remove the PDF before the Inbound TPS (which writes the message to SMAT)?

Where can I find information about how the idx/msg files are created?

Thank you in advance for your ideas!

          Scherie,

I don’t believe you can modify the message before it is written to the inbound SMAT as messages are written to the SMAT file as soon as they are successfully read from the protocol.  You would likely need to save a copy of the modified message into its own file, or route the modified message to another thread with SMAT enabled.  Or perhaps you may be able to accomplish this using a UPOC protocol routine.

thanks Jim.  I will try routing it to another thread.
