grmfetch error on frl field

Unlike HL7…which returns a null string for the datum if the field doesn’t exist…..grmfetch’s

  Are you saying thee field is not defined in the FRL or that there is nothing in that field in the actual message?
  
  If nothing in that field in the message – how can that be – by definition fields of fixed length records are required and need to have something even if it is space or zero filled in order to qualify as an Fixed Record Layout?

  either x 20 – spaces or 30’s – zeroes are in the field…i think there is a problem with the frl field def…….looking harder at it with the programmer
