Interface with mainframe

We run Cloverleaf 6.0 on AIX and connect to Mainframe via APPC and LU.3.

What platform are you running Cloverleaf on?

We are running Cloverleaf 5.8.5 and utilizing LU6.2 connectivity.  This type of connectivity should exist within all Cloverleaf versions as long as the OS you are running it on supports SNA.

I’m not sure if it is completely true but needing AIX to do SNA interfaces from Cloverleaf to a mainframe has been one of my most convincing arguments to swat down those evil doers that circle like flies to get everyone on cheezy Microsoft Windows.

Now that we are going to EPIC, once SMS is depricated, the swarm will be harder to swat I fear, because logic to them is a view point to be dismissed, so I need a show stopper like SNA before they leave me be.

I have heard rumors that SNA on windows exists but does not work.

I kind of struggle with SNA interfaces, but at least there is one silver lining for those of us that think we should be running on AIX because it is the premium choice for cloverleaf.

Nope – LU.3 and it was for the UHC project.

Unlike days of old, all mainframes now have a TCP/IP stack available.  Unless you are using some antiquated stuff like SMS  😉  I would suggest TCP/IP
