This is a very general question so I’m only expecting some general answers. We’re considering a new server running Linux and are currently running an AIX server running AIX 6.1. We’re running Cloverleaf version 6.0.1.

Has anyone had any experience converting to Linux from AIX? I’m not committed to a specific flavor of Linux yet, just in an information gathering mode right now.

    Thanks for any input.

There have been a few threads around this topic:

      and a few others.

When we went from AIX to RHEL, the main items we had to look at were:

updating the semaphore count. we upped ours to:

      sysctl -w kernel.sem=”1024 32000 1000 8192″

      Also need to update: /etc/sysctl.conf

      Install the 32 bit libraries.

Updating maintenance scripts with the variations between the AIX commands and the linux commands.

Thanks. That’ll be helpful. I’ll read through the links.

For what it’s worth, we have many customers using Linux and many of them with a very high message volume. We are also using Linux for our operating system for Cloverleaf Cloud.

      Hi Max,

I’m curious about your cloud setup.

Some management were wanting to put cloverleaf in a cloud environment here, but ran into the issue that the MAC address would change whenever it moved servers.

Does your cloud support static MAC addresses? or is there a cloverleaf licence that does not rely on the MAC?

Infor Cloverleaf Cloud is a service we offer where your Cloverleaf servers are hosted in our cloud. We use Linux virtual machines as the operating system with site to site VPN’s. The licensing is handled internally. We, Infor, fully manage the Cloverleaf service including interface development, support, monitoring, patches, updates, and migrations. Each virtual environment comes with Global Monitor for visibly to the interface for the customer. If you are interested in learning more about this service, please shoot me an email and I can arrange a demo or introduction.
