          I ran a test of adding these entries to the bottom of my siteInfo file to see if it would at least change the environment varibles of interest:

          # test overide root master site
          mastersite=mda_global_p
          mastersitedir=/cloverleaf/cis6.0/integrator/mda_global_p

          when I did this

              set | grep HCI

              HCILICFILE=/cloverleaf/cis6.0/integrator/vers/license.dat

              HCIMASTERSITE=mda_global

              HCIMASTERSITEDIR=/cloverleaf/cis6.0/integrator/mda_global

              HCIROOT=/cloverleaf/cis6.0/integrator

              HCISITE=test_russ

              HCISITEDIR=/cloverleaf/cis6.0/integrator/test_russ

              HCIVERSION=6.0

              MDA_HCIROOT_OFF_LIST=qdx5.6

          I see there was no change to the environment variables of interest above in red.

          I do not have a mda_global_p site created on our TEST server at this time in case there is intellegence in cloverleaf that might be coming into play.

            Russ,

            I think setting master site at the site level instead of the root level is an excellent enhancement idea.  We had to install multiple roots on our AIX test box to allow for more than 1 master site.  It would be MUCH simpler to support a single root with multiple master sites.

                  I like the enhancement approach.  Multiple roots is very not supported and will likely cause future maintenance issues.
