Java Driver

Does anybody out have any simple Java Driver connections samples that they could provide me?  The ones provide in the documentation are not really the cleanest.  I’m trying to find something that simple to get me started.  Something as easy as send a hard-coded string as a message into Cloverleaf and some to echo the message(s) out to file on an outbound connection.  I’m branching over to the language of Java and understand most of the syntax, but need a little push, shove or something to help me get going here.
