How to reset alert statistics

Cloverleaf 5.7, patch 2 on AIX. How do I ‘reset’ the statistics for alerts? We have about 15 that fire every time we save the default.alrt. These are alerts for messages being sent to the error database. Haven’t found anything specific in the forums.
Also, is there a way to clean out the Alert log? There are entries from 2 months ago.
