/etc/environment file during installation of 5.8

We are currently on CL 5.6 and AIX 5.3 . We are installing 5.8 on our test system. I know that the /etc/environment file will be modified to have 5.8 information on it instead of 5.6 . Does it require a re-boot of the system in order for this information be placed into memory?

  If you have cron jobs they will be immediately affected by the install. For your GUI and running engines, you can run both Cloverleaf versions concurrently, so the /etc/environment file doesn’t make much difference.
