Inforum 2012 – HIE

Not sure this is the right forum, but I’m going to all the Cloverleaf sessions at Inforum and I’m hoping that my questions here could be considered by the session presenters.

For HIE – not that we are moving away from our current regional health exchange which uses Axolotl, but I’m curious as to how others will handle some of the issues/pain we are experiencing with Consent.

– what is the breakdown of HIE backends – national (like Axolotl), vs. state-wide vs. regional vs. local, and how many are government vs commercial (non-hospital) vs commercial (hospital)?

– how is Consent / Access managed? the guidelines I’ve read seem to allow multiple kinds of consent per patient per provider – are any organizations providing this flexibility? Does the Lawson offering include the storage of Consent Indicators and the use of them when authorizing access to documents?
