I have a question about upgrading to 5.8 approach.  Standard, safe, proven approach is to upgrade a test system with a complete new release, then move forward.   We are on release 5.7 and still need this active.  My understanding is 5.8 can be installed on the same test server, would have different root directory — /data/quovadx/qdx5.8/integrator/  versus   /data/quovadx/qdx5.7/integrator/   Need a new hci signon, not sure how to handle $HCIROOT value?   This would allow separate site_master for source and separate Cloverleaf thread sites.  The intent is to build a new CLoverleaf upgraded environment for the Epic project while having the 5.7 site remain for current Production support and certain need to be done now interface development.   Save on new servers, connectivity/firewall/vendor issues.  Is this truly possible?  Environment would be controlled as to what would be active/running in the environments.  I was told a couple of years ago, that we could install a release this way, but would like know from the true  Cloverleaf users………….

Yes, it’s really easy and safe to run two versions on the same server. About the only thing you need to worry about is choosing ports that don’t conflict between the two sites.  You don’t even need a separate login. Both sites can run under the same userid. After you sign in you use the “setroot” command to switch between version.

Thanks for the positive reply.  I’ve read the release notes and the install notes.  There are a few pre-items to handle.  The part I’m not clear on is the IDE (GUI) environment, but if we can get the approval, this would all be known using our dev system.  Steps documented, with time estinates before moving to the test and UAT systems.  I know the Dev system MAC address, but I’m having trouble getting thru to Lawson on requesting a license key.  Documentation says CRM at Healthvision but this returned undeliverable.  I thought it would be Lawson.com since everyone elses changed with the company.  The email never returned undeliverable, but I’ve received no reply.

We have Cloverleaf version 5.7.3 and version 5.8.4 running fine on the Test server.  One Item I forgot to ask about before:  we have the advanced Cloverleaf security server.   Need to get version 5.8 but does anyone know if you can run different versions of Cloverleaf Security on one Windows 2003 server?      OR am I stuck asking for hardware……

The CIS 5.7 and 5.8 environments on one Linux environment works out fine.  Making great movement on the Epic interface projects and leaving the prod support test environment alone.  But, can’t move forward now without making sure the security works.
