Is it possible to use the 5.8 gui to connect to a 5.7 server. We only have 5.7 installed on the server currently, but the client isnt compatible with windows 7. I have it installed but it doesnt work great.

I installed 5.8 and i seem to remember there was a file you could edit to force it to connect to old version. But im having trouble finding that.

If anyone could help that would be great.

I have the Cloverleaf 5.7 client installed in Win7 and it works perfectly.

If you can’t get it to work for whatever reason, try using the free Windows XP mode provided by Microsoft for Win7.

          Interesting.

1.When i right click a thread, go to full>resend. the browse for a file. The icons dont show up.

          2. Often i open up CL gui, open db and try to query error or recover db and it hangs. I close it (via killing process from task manager) and start it again. It may work that time or i may need to do it again. Usually by the third time it works.

          3. Similar to #2 i open up the testing tool and have to cycle repeatedly for the test to complete. I click the run button and it will just hang.

          4. The gui has always leaked memory, but with windows 7 it just seems worse. Regardless of what im doing, after about 20 min my cursor icon changes to the loading circle instead of a regular pointer. Closing the gui and restarting it will take care of this. But that gets annoying after restarting gui 10 or so times.

            Greetings,

Just a thought here:   if you migrated your client.ini from a previous version of 5.7 (5.6 for example) you need to remove any jvm_args

line as it will now conflict with the 5.7 server.ini which includes a jvm_args to allocate memory.

When we went from 5.6R2 to 5.7R2 and removed the client jvm_args line in our client, performance stablized.

            Hope this helps.

For windows 7, you should talk with your sales rep.
