In the Cloverleaf 5.6 Rev 2 (AIX) Release Notes: “8.2.19 nslookup causes script performance issues (11609)
AR 9515 reported that in a customer’s site name lookups were taking a long time, affecting hcimsiutil performance.
Not every NetConfig reload should require nslookups, though. DNS lookup/validation should only be done in hcinetcheck and not during engine startup.
The hcimsiutil command needs to load the NetConfig file and not perform a NetConfig datacheck. However, it performs the datacheck, which takes a lot of time and impacts system performance.
Workarounds
There are two workarounds:
