      CL 5.3

      If the HL7 variant used in the inbound side of an xlate has a field with a defined length of 2, but the xlate has logic that looks for a 3-byte string, and the inbound transaction has a 3-byte string, does the xlate see 2 bytes or 3?

      (It’s not my logic.)  ðŸ™‚

          Bob,

          On the inbound side the field length is not restrcitive so you should see the 3 characters.

          If you COPY that field untouched to the outbound and there is a field length discrepency, the outbound variant will cause truncation.
