I am having issues with a inbound thread (acting as server) that receives scheduling messages over VPN. We are not able to keep a persistent connection on this thread and our vendor (ECW) complains we are dropping connections before they send us a message or they receive an ACK from us. Since there are firewall/ VPN tunnel involved in this connection, I don’t think it is Cloverleaf’s issue. Anyway, it is nature of this job to be found guilty until proven innocent, so I am resigned to my fate. 😀 We have QDX 5.6 rev 2 on AIX 5.3. After researching this forum, I have found that I have two options:
1) Lower the tcp_keepalive from the default value on our AIX server
2) Change the inbound thread to multi-sever configuration
As I do not have acesses to the server as root and also not sure what this does to all of the other interfaces in our production enviornment, I have abandoned option 1 for now.
As to the multiserver options, I have the “use DRIVERCONTROL ” option checked in the NetConfig for thread, modified my ACK procedure to pass the DRIVERCONTROL metatdata to the ACK message. But I am stumped on what options I should use to throttle the number of connections. I am hoping to get away with using max of 5 clients option with out using the outbound queue depth or the pre-translate queue depth. Is there a rule to set these throttling options? I would appreciate if somebody is willing to share their experiences with setting up multi-server thread Thanks!
