I’m working with CL5.8 and am looking through the help document and can’t find any information on the concept of a mastersite.

Does anyone know where that is documented?

I’d like to see a comparison of:

Default site vs. Master site vs. siteProto

And why is there a helloworld site?

Default site is the site that you are connected to by default when you log in to the server.

siteProto is the set of files that are copied into any newly created sites.

A master site is a site that has resources that are available to all other sites on the server.  This includes TCL procs, Xlates, formats, tables, etc.

There is some information in the “Cloverleaf(R) IDE : Client, Site, and Root : Root Options” section of the documentation.

            Michael,

On 5.6 I see the information in the Root Options-Master Site which is in the IDE Book – Client, Site, and Root Options.

We use Master Site extensively here.

Essentially if you had a ‘global’ site set up before that you used soft links to reference, you would specify that site in the Root Options and remove your links.
