we are getting “Cannot Pathcopy between incompatible types” suddenly with our clinic ADT system.  Anyone have any ideas what this could be, the vendor claims nothing has changed and I can find nothing in the files that should cause and error.

    thanks,

      Jason,

What I would do is to run the HL/7 Tester agains a message that is getting the error an verify the formats match.

Also check to make sure the message does not now have an optional group or segment that was not present in the message before.

      What release of Cloverleaf?

If you cannot tell what PATHCOPY is throwing the error and on 5.6 Cloverleaf or later, comment out one PATHCOPY at a time until the error goes away (or comment out based on aq ‘binary search’ technique) to isolate the offending PATHCOPY, then check the variant against the message (using the HL/7 tester and observation).

      Jason,

You could also echo a display statement (through the Xlate preproc) before each PATHCOPY, and then check the log to see after which display statement/echo message you get the error. The pathcopy after that echo should most likely be the one with the issue.

      Thanks,

      Shibu Mathew
