      Hello,

Does the Cloverleaf ODBC driver support custom data types?

      Thanks,

      G

          Garrett,

The constraint is with the target DB Type. Each has the DataTypes they support. As far as I know the ODBC Drivers support all of the target DB DataTypes.

Now using ODBC against files rather than DBs might be a different story.

Oracle is the database will be referencing. But our schema had some custom Data Types in the Oracle database. Will we be able to work with those custom data types within the database?

            Thanks,

            G

              Garrett,

Look in the Data Direct Documentation (you can find it  @ http://www.datadirect.com support). There are tables of the DataTypes for Oracle.

Sometimes the ‘custom’ datatypes are simply one of the other DataTypes.

This is not something we run into because we don’t do the Sql inside Cloverleaf(R).

We found it much better to simply invoke a Stored Procedure on the DB in question and let them take care of the DataType stuff.

Thank you for the link. I looked it up, there is no mention of custom data types. I bet we can at least select the data in the custom types.

So can we just downlaod and use this ODBC driver to connect to a Oracle database, and somehow run SQL statements in TCL? Or do we need to buy the driver from Cloverleaf.

                Thanks,

                Garrett

                  Garrett,

If you are on UNIX you need to purchase the Data Integrator (ODBC Drivers) from Healthvision/Lawson.

If on Windows you can use the native ODBC to whatever extent you can reference it from Tcl.
