We are going to try to do something else on the Cloverleaf server that requires java 1.5. Currently only java 1.4 is installed. Will there be a problem with Cloverleaf 5.6 on AIX 5.2 if we install java 1.5?
You should be OK. From memory, Java is installed in the Cloverleaf environment and is only accessible if you are in Cloverleaf or a hci enabled shell. If you then install Java as a normal install the two should sit side by side. I’ve actually had two versions of Java installed normally and the Cloverleaf install on one machine and used environment batch files to setup the environment I want to work in.
One caveat to this – I’ve only ever done this on Windows – I don’t know how AIX stores and uses environment variables so it maybe different.
