I have one site where if I’m in the test tool, XLT tab and use the ‘Save To’ the file is created but nothing gets written to it, it’s just empty but the file does get created. If I log into another site I can save to the same location with no problems.

I’ve performed a side by side compare on the site settings in the console, and I’ve completed a file compare of the NetConfig and siteInfo files with no major differences.

What else should I look at? This isn’t much more that a minor annoyance and I’ll rebuild the site if I have to go that route.

          Tim,

Here is a stupid question, I know, but is this happening for all xlates in that affected site or only just one?

😳 I was able to save data in a file using only a bulk copy xlate.

I’ll go back to the other xlates to see what they have in common.

            Thanks.

This save to issue was affecting several xlates (all that I tested) but the issue was not present using a simple bulkcopy xlate.

What I found is that if a suppress is used anywhere in the xlate then the save to in the test tool does not work even if a send is used later in the xlate.

The suppress can be quite tricky to deal with.  Here is one little trick I do whenever I put a suppress in an xlate. I will put another statement in along with it that contains an “echo” command stating the reason for the suppress.  That way, anyone who is testing with that xlate can see it during their testing.  Also, the echo will go into the log file and have a record of the reason for the suppressed message.

                  Tim,

If your Xlates are using SEND instead of CONTINUE that is the issue (as far as the tester is concerned) and not the SUPPRESS.

As a matter of course, I always use the CONTINUE instead of the SEND because of differences in how they work.

To satisfy  that is the issue for yourself, change a test version of the Xlate to CONTINUE and you should see the file saved.
