A way to migrate things from test to production.
To my knowledge there is not clean way to promote things from test to production. I know this is a subject near and dear to many people. It is a very tough issue.
A couple of things come to mind:
1. The ability to copy/paste between xlates
2. The ability to create a table by importing it from a file (i.e. a .csv file) We currently have a script that does this but it would be nice if it could be done through the GUI’s.
I’m sure I’ll think of other things…..

I would like to see people use better subject lines for their threads, but not much you can do about that.
Search Feature
I would like to see a better search feature. If I type in a search of, lets say, “string map”, I would like to see only those that have the exact phrase in the post (sort of like Google does now). As it stands now, it will bring upp any post that has the words “string” or the word “map” in it.
Post Size Limits
Maybe a limit on the size of the post. Some put long stretches of code in their post that you have to wade through to get to the follow up post. It would be better served to have that put in as an attachment.
A spell checker would be nice too! LOL If you read a lot of posts on here you know how bad that is needed.

On several messageboard sites, I’m now seeing the functionality of hovering on the thread link and the user is able to see something like the first 150 characters of the first post in a message balloon…
An example is if I hovered on this thread’s link, I would see “What would you like to see in the next generation of Clovertech?” Of course, if the first post had more characters, I would only see a certain amount.
This is really handy to quickly see what a thread is about rather than clicking the link and reading the first post.
Clovertech – I’d like to see the email problem fixed. I only get a small percentage of the postings in my inbox.

The ability to embedd screen shots in the post and not just as attachments at the bottom of the post.
Since posting code has been more reliable than attachmnets, I have done it that way.

First of all, the post size limit doesn’t limit your freedom of speech, but instead is teaching you to make your point more precisely.

It would be nice to clean up the Digests.
1 Lines don’t always wrap within the window, fonts get changed to bizarre sizes, parts of paragraphs will be missing.
2. Aso having attributes like bold and underline carry over from the postings into the Digests would be helpful.
3. Have the ability for users to request previous digests by date range.

I’d like to have the forum *NOT* mark all posts as viewed just because you logged on. Sometimes I log on, see a gabillion posts and don’t have time to read them all. If I log off and come back later I don’t know which ones I have missed.
The ability to include a period in the search string. I’ve been unable to search for 5.4.1, for example. I contacted tech support about this and they confirmed that this is a search limitation.

What would be good for Clovertech.
There are many points in the cloverleaf engine.
Perhaps if the cloverleaf area was broke down into sub groups.
Like the main page to includes sub areas like “Xlate”, “Protocols”,”Tcl”,”HL7″,”X12″, “VRL”,”ODBC”…
This wasy you could maybe search with in those areas.
Maybe ever an area for specific vendors.
Perhaps a FAQ kind of thing. I see lots of repeat questions out there maybe a little differently stated but always very close.

I am thinking that it would be great to have the same search and index facilities as in the Cloverleaf Integrator documentation that we access now with CIS5.6 (from the IDE). Currently, it is frustrating when entering text to search in this forum as everything comes up with each separate keyword hit rather than with each phrase entered.
Also: archive posts that predate (say) CIS5.3 into another folder if someone is still running a Cloverleaf version prior to this one.
And, retain only the last 3- 4 years of posts to keep the “research time” down to a minimum.
Just for the record: this is a valuable support tool for us Cloverleaf folks!
It might be difficult to limit to Cloverleaf(R) release or even OS as that information is not required nor is it frequently volunteered.
As for time constraint…
I would much prefer to see as large an active post as practical based on resource consumption (archiving when necessary) and a capability on the search to limit to post age.
The reason is many topics discussed in the past may not be of use to a seasoned Integration Engineer, but might be on point to a newbie.
Moreover, techniques discovered and deployed in prior Cloverleaf(R) releases may become useful in more current releases but if the posts are gone the immediate availability of the knowledge is lost.
As for FAQS – this was discussed at last year’s User Conference in an excellent session that Bryan Dort headed.
Obviously the establishment and maintenance of a useful FAQ is a resource (human) consumptive effort. It was discussed at the Users Conference (if my memory serves me well) the FAQ and other desired features would need to be supported by the User Community and not necessarily Healthvision.
Are there any volunteers out there willing to be active on any Clovertech workgroups related to enhancements you would like to see (like FAQs)???

I think the best improvement would be the simplest, organization.
Instead of archiving old posts and making them unavailable to the search, a better answer might be to have a way to specify in teh search how far back in time to search (ie. search last 30 days, 90 days, 1 year, 2 years, 5 years, all posts).

Not sure whether is would be covered by the FAQ’s but I would like to see some detailed step by step guides that we can print out and keep for things like:
1. Cleanup after a process panic including comments as to what each command does.
2. Using SMAT – message selection, resend etc
3. Resending data from the error database using hcicmd
I’m sure other people can add to this list.
I should add that I do know how to do these but usually need to read my notes each time – hence the request for a set of guides.

It would be nice to open support cases and have a knowledge base.
More search options would be nice. It seems like when I search for phrases it still searches for the words independantly.

As always there are a number of good ideas, that is one of the best things with Clovertech, and always has been.
I think an FAQ would be great.
I also agree that the content should not be limited to a version or a time. Some of the answers fit any version or time, and I have found in the past that an answer to a previous problem on a different version led me to solving a different problem.
I would be happy to help with an FAQ also.

OK – you have someone (Max Drown) who has volunteered to chair a Clovertech FAQ Workgroup and at least one (maybe more) individuals that have volunteered to be on the workgroup.
Let us know if FAQ will be a part of son of clovertech.

It would be nice to be able to add discussion threads (or separate posts) to favorites. By that I mean not bookmarks in my browser (because I access Clovertech from different PC’s and PC’s get replaced) but in Clovertech, so it’s available to me every time I log in.
I often come across very interesting discussions that I know I would like to refer in future, but it’s difficult to keep track of them
Sergey: You might want to look at using Google Toolbar, Foxmarks or other software that can keep your bookmarks synchronized on different computers.
Of course, I really dislike phpBB, and I prefer e-mail lists. It’s much easier to flag and follow discussion threads in e-mail than it is in online forums such as this one, but I get the feeling that I’m in the minority. phpBB seems very popular these days.

As it was indicated that this is requesting clovertech ideas but I was wondering if there is already a suggestion box for CLOVERLEAF or could there be one created as there was for alerts a what you might call a wish list for CLOVERLEAF the Interface.
Bill, there is a section for Enhancement requests which contains a format for making such requests.

If I do a search that generates a list of topics that is more than one page long, I can only view the 1st page. A fix for this would be great.
I would like to see folders (or a set of containers of another class) that contain posts on a narrow to medium subject band. This should make it easier to find questions and associated answers. Folders can be generated based on the number of questions that fit in a particular category, or a standard set of folders can be built to cover all of Cloverleaf.

I’d like to see a wiki style knowledge base and an area to track OS updates that are known to cause problems.
It would be nice if the forum supported true HREF url statements so that we could do cool things like say ..

I know you probably don’t want to enable full HTML in posts since it would allow people to post images, advertisements and other things we don’t want here.
But, it sure would be nice to post more standard and nice looking hyper-links to other posts or sites.[/u]
I have two suggestions to improve the Clovertech user interface.
2. When I open a topic that is multiple pages, I would like the page with my first unread response to be loaded, so I do not have to page forward to that page, which by the time I get there shows all replies are read, even though I have not seen them yet.

A view HL7 format option on the SMAT screen where we can choose a variant and map it to a HL7 file to quicky respond to queries about mesages/received/sent thru the engine. Would also be nice to select by Hl7 Fields in SMAT
I think what you need is in Cloverleaf(R) 5.6 and beyond.

Just get to the new version of phpbb which is much better than this version.
When I’m selecting a TclProc from the UPoC drop down list, I would like to be able to type in the name of the proc (if I know it) rather than being forced to scroll through possibly hundreds of other procs to click on it.

If you type the first letter of the proc name, the list will scroll down to the first proc that begins with that letter…then you can continue to scroll through the remaining items (or hit the letter again to continue scrolling through the procs that begin with that letter)

I would suggest to implement code management and site migration tools.
I can’t believe that we still have to do everything manually.
This would include:
“first NetConfig thread fr_hl7_raw data routing trxid ‘ADT_A08’ has 3 details; second NetConfig has 2”.
2. Export and import of the specific threads and processes with related xlates tclprocs and variants.
3. Keeping searchable log of changes that was made for audit purposes.
I also recommend to create two separate lists for web site improvements versus product improvements.
Add inactivate/activate to the Alert configurator. Same as in the Xlate. Would help with problem solving Alerts.

It would be great to see more system documentation and the use of power point presentations or even video files for teaching how to do tasks and resolve issues.
Also it would be really good to see some documentation of ERROR and how to deal with cleaning them up.
I would like to see Clovertech make a Key field available for posters to set search key values.
For an Xlate routing issue, one could enter “xlate, route” or “xlate, route, tclproc”, which would then allow a more focused search ability. The search mechanism could search the key values first, return the results, then offer a more thorough search as is currently available if the key search did not return a result that was helpful.

When a search is executed in Clovertech, a highly desirable feature would be links for viewing the previous and next topic in in the search results. Currently, there is none.
Something that would also be useful is the ability to subcategorize within individual forums. This would allow more focused searching.
Search tags would also be useful: a list of one to five words separated by a comma which allows the poster to make searching more efficient for everyone.

If a Clovertech user is in the middle of a reply, gets distracted and is automatically signed out before completing and sending the reply, the Clovertech system should save and auto-recover the unfinished text when the user signs in again; the unfinished reply can then be discarded after two days if the user does not sign in again within that time period.
It is a pain to rewrite the same thing over.

Jon: Clovertech uses software called phpBB to run the forum. The features you are requesting would be phpBB features. Potentially they might be addressed by upgrading to a more recent phpBB version, adding phpBB plugins or switching to another type of forum software. We haven’t had a phpBB update in a long time, and I think that it is a low priority for Lawson.
