We have transcription system that sends data from a MS word doc. The readable data is sent in the OBX segments, escaped. The receiving system unescapes this data. I believe there are also some topics on this board about using base64.
I wrote an AIX korn shell script to break the MS Word document down into text, but started out with a specific version of word using a template, where there was always certain text to key off of. If you have a situation like this, I can send post the script, but it is very specific.
