For orders going out to one ancillary system, the vendor wants the NTE segment to immediately follow the PID segment instead of the OBR segment.  Is there an easy way to do this?  There isn’t always an NTE segment, sometimes there’s more than one.  I thought of doing it in an xlate and just basically create a new message, but I was worried about missing a segment I didn’t anticipate or creating empty NTE segments, etc.  Or should the vendor just write better software?

          Mark,

Well, the vendor probably should write better software.

If it were me based on your description, I would do this in the Xlate.

I am not sure what you mean about creating a new message.

Essentially you would be simply manipulating the inbound message with the Xlate resulting in a reformatted outbound message.
