I’ve been given the assignment of taking an inbound radiology report in HL7 format and creating a vrl or frl outbound ascii file. The outbound ascii file needs to contain all report control characters that are necessary to allow each report to be formatted and printed when sent to a printer.

Has anyone out there designed anything like this in Cloverleaf

      Thanks

          James,

It sounds like this may be better suited to use an HRL definition.  Since an HRL is comprised of one or more FRL definitions, you could use this to create a text document from the HL7.  I’m assuming you need to map each OBX to a separate line on the outbound transaction, so you could create an FRL that is one long field (i.e. 80-characters) and a single character field.  Then use this FRL in an HRL, marked as repeating, and within the Xlate iter over your OBX’s mapping the OBX:5 (I’m assuming) to the long field, and a new-line character to the single character field.

          Hope this helps.
