.ecd files

      Cloverleaf 5.5 Rev1 running on AIX 5.3

When we use the GUI SMAT utility, it creates .ecd files in the same folder with the same base name as the .idx – .msg files.  What are these?  Do we need them later?  Should Cloverleaf be cleaning these files up automatically?  Here is the contents of one of the files…

          This is coming from smat.

This is how it “remembers” what encoding you chose last time.

This is a new requested feature.

You can remove them, but then smat will forget what you used last time.

Cloverleaf will not clean these up.

            Ah, fun!

We manually cycle our saved message files, rename them to date/time names, etc.  So each time we run a smat based on one of those files, it gets a unique preferences .ecd file.  I guess there are good and bad things about this implementation of that feature request.

One more thing that I will add to my fileCleanUp script.  Thanks for the info.
