I have a couple of folks here that are about to go to level 1 training.

They are asking me what they can do too prep for the class.

So my quesiton is does any one have something they can suggest.

I have given them some simple thigs like create three threads One inbound two outbound and send only A01 to the outbound.

One outbound send only the MSH ENV and PID.  They have gotten pretty far along on all of this.

Are there any prep things from Quovadx I can give them ?

Quovadx sells a CBT called the TCL Tutor, or something along those lines.  Any familiarity with TCL will allow them to focus on the engine concepts and not worry about any TCL coding they may encounter.  This will be more helpful for level 2 or level 3, but it could not hurt for level 1.

          Hope this helps,

            John,

I think being comfortable with the GUI as far as navigation (where everything is and what it is) is very helpful.

The more they can experience the definition of an FRL, HL/7 variant, Xlate the better.

Having some comfort with the engine’s architecture (processing points and point of control) could be useful as well.

I don’t think much will be gained by exposure to Tcl for Level 1.

I am not sure about today’s Level 1 but when I took it there was a fair amount of emphasis on understanding the log. I still think that is important ( I have resolved many an issue quicker by being familiar and comforable with the log).
