Your question is interesting and I have not done what you are asking nor has the thought crossed my mind.
Even though I have not attempted what you are interested in trying, I would be surprised if it turns out to be possible.
My first reason for jumping to that conclusion is the IDE attaches to the hostserver by specifying the server/IP.
If you could even start 2 hostservers running on the same server/IP, the IDE has no way to specify which one is the right one to connect to.
Now here is something I have done with success on the same physical AIX box.
I have created LPARs (which are virtual machines running on the same physical hardware) and installed cloverleaf on each LPAR, making test cloverleaf on one LPAR and production cloverleaf on the other LPAR.
FYI – Anytime you have to put both test and production on the same server/IP that is a recipe for having a bad day.
During times of limited capacity when I had to run test and production on the same server/IP, I segregated them by using site names like test_whatever and prod_whatever.
