I know there must be a simple way to do this, but I’m not discovering it.

I have an input file (HL7).  The FT1 segments normally have the date format as the 12-digit YYYYMMDDhhmm, but I need to modify these to simply be the 8-digit YYYYMMDD.

I’ve searched through the forums, though I’m new to the forum… and Cloverleaf, in general.

          Ken,

Here are a couple of things you can try.

At the beginning of your Xlate add a DATECOPYOPT Action and turn off the ‘Add Presicision’ switch.

If that does not do the trick, change the field length in your outbound variant to 8 bytes and Xlate will truncate for you. If you have more than one Date/Time field to be affected, change all that are necessary.
