      Hi folks,

After checking the documentation, it seems I can use ‘hcilicset’ to check if a supplied license key is valid. Is that true?

I need to do this for the HA license key, while primary server is running all the time.

      Thanks!

          Hi,

You could also use hcilicstatus. This maybe safer than using hcilicset.

          Regards

If you are using the alerts, there is an alert for License Status available.

I chased my tail trying to figure out why a license that was okay was not working.

I found out I needed to recycle the host server after updating the license file.

                Hi folks,

Oops, sorry, think I didn’t make myself clearer. 😛

My HA needs to move to a new box (physically different from the current HA box).

Without going into all the messy details (mistakes made by the local Cloverleaf vendor in generating wrong key), HA failover testing (OS/file system level) has been tested. But I need to be sure that the license key supplied for this new HA box is valid.

Without failing over to HA, can I simply use hcilicset to apply the license key? I understand it will append to the current license file, but will it also check if it is valid using the checksum?

                Thanks!

We went through this some months ago when we upgraded our hardware, and had a couple false starts getting CL licensed correctly on the new box.

hcilicset allows you to enter keys to activate features.

hcilicstatus will display which features are enabled.

If you’re concerned about messing things up, save a copy of …/integrator/vers/license.dat before you make changes so you can copy it back if you run into problems.

                  To quote from the documentation:

“The hcilicset program verifies the information that you have entered, creates the license for the QDX Integration Services engine, and notifies you that all licenses are OK.”

                    Hi Chris,

I am currently still on QDX 3.8.1, with /hci residing on the external shared disk.

Let’s say my primary server is running now. Without failing over to the HA server, can I use “hcilicset” to enter/verify the license for the HA server?

[The local vendor’s answer to the above question is that ‘hcilicset’ also need to check the ‘active’ server’s uname. So I was told without failing over to the HA, ‘hcilicset’ cannot verify if the given key is valid.]

                      Anyone can confirm? Thanks!
