      We are on AIX 5.2 and looking to go to CL 5.5. Anything interesting I need to know about before I load this thing? I heard a rumor that the GUI SMAT tool has a bug. Any truth to this? if I use the old hcismat through X windows (which I do anyway because it loads much faster), is this a decent workaround or not? I’m not thinking it is…

          Helps solve the gui disconnect problem under basic security. Should be added to $HCIROOT/server/server.ini

            In our 5.5 testing we found the enhanced SMAT utilities are MUCH faster.  I might become a convert to the GUI SMAT tools.  Unfortunately we also found:

            TRANSLATES

            1) Case# 31032 – PATHCOPY from a non-existant segment produces a mismatched IR tags error.  Work-around is to check a field in the segment that “should” have data before doing the PATHCOPY.

            2) Case# 31045 – Multi-word literal is not stored as a single value.  Work-around is to manually place braces like COPY {=word1 word2} -> @myvar

            SMAT

            3) The “old” unsupported hcismat utility doesn’t load EBCDIC files correctly.  Known Bug# 10778.  Work-around is to convert SMAT file to ASCII before loading.

            4) The SMAT utilities (old & new) won’t resend to a thread.  Work-around is to save the messages to a file and resend from the NetMonitor GUI.  Known Bug# ???

            5) GUI SMAT tool “Resend to file” writes length-encoded files without message lengths.  Known Bug# 10778.

            We are waiting for Rev 1 before we do more testing.

              Due to ftp issues we are also waiting for Rev 1 before implementing 5.5

                We had an issue with 5.5 with using the ftp protocol.  A workaround was to include the hostname of the cloverleaf server in the ftp options of the thread.

                  reviewing our output ..

                  It appears that Case# 31045 is related to a GUI problem ..

                  Pre-existing Xlates seem to have the { } around the text ..

                  Of course .. if we edit them .. they may not work in 5.5.
