      Hi all,

Can someone help me with this. We send and receive transations from HIS to IHS/EHR systems . The vendor for EHR is asking me to send the no.of transactions according to different message type in an HL7 message every day. Did anyone implemented this kind of procedure before. Right now I am thinking to get the numbers for each message type in a file .

Can someone help me how I can accomplish this.

      Thanks,

      Uma

          Hi Uma,

I realize the following is NOT an answer to your question, and I hope someone else will respond with that, but here is my gut reaction:

Are you sure you have to do what this vendor is requesting?  If they are looking for statistics on types of messages received and sent, they have access to both those sets of messages so why isn’t it their responsibility to gather those numbers, instead of placing the onus on you?  If they are looking for some sort of audit trail (and you are dealing strictly with real-time HL7 messages, not batch flat files, etc.) then that’s what the ACK/NAK protocol is for, to guarantee transmission.

I would estimate the number of hours this work is going to take you to develop, and then present the vendor with a quote for what it is going to cost for you to do this work for them.
