      Hi,

I was trying to install Cloverleaf 5.4.1 on Windows Server 2003. I got an error that it couldn’t create the hciuser account: error 997. Then the install doesn’t complete.

Anybody have any ideas? Perhaps I can create the account manually some how and re-install?

      Thanks

          Hi Jim,

Do you have a security policy set on the server? Cloverleaf creates the hciuser account with the default password that is only 6 char long It could be your security policy is set to 8 char.

To (almost) guarantee installation I install on a ‘virgin’ machine i.e. standalone (not on a domain) and no policies applied.

          Hope this helps.

Yes, it was the stronger password policy.

What I ended up doing was manually creating the hciuser account, then I re-installed Cloverleaf, it would then skip the user id creation part and continue with a successfull install. I then blew away the hciuser account, and re-configured the CL Service to use the local system account. Don’t know what implications this will have, but it seemed to work, the service started up normally.

            Thanks
