/usr/bin/uptime
but Cloverleaf supersedes the AIX version of uptime as the result of the following symbolic link:
/quovadx/qdx5.2/integrator/bin/uptime -> /quovadx/qdx5.2/integrator/bin/top
I question why Cloverleaf has effectively blocked using the AIX version of uptime with their own in this fashion.
I have another even bigger concern and that is the fact that top is shareware and unsupported and has been broken for years.
As you can see the AIX version of uptime gives correct output
09:44AM up 285 days, 22:52, 5 users, load average: 0.40, 0.87, 1.01
but the Cloverleaf version of uptime–>top does not give correct information
9:44am up -211 days, -3:-37, 5 users, load average: 0.00, 0.40, 0.00
This is not surprising since top is a stale shareware program that is no longer maintained by the original author.
For top to be viable into the future requires it be maintained for future hardware and operating system architecture thus making it a dead utility at this time.
Since the broken Cloverleaf uptime–>top has the same format as the working AIX uptime, can I remove the symbolic link for uptime provided with Cloverleaf so I end up using the AIX uptime that works.
I know removing the symbolic link will have the desired outcome of calling the AIX version of uptime.
What I don’t know, is there any other Cloverleaf considerations that would cause me to have second thoughts about removing the link?
