      Hello all,

Yesterday morning, the network that had our Cloverleaf server went down…when it came back up…Cloverleaf was having some situations.

When attempting to down a thread that was clogging up with pending messages, the stop command failed and said that the process must be hung. It then later just crashed. In checking the log, I saw the Db_Vista database error -921 and panic,

I fixed it by rebuilding the database (I would have liked a less destructive way to fix it, but my site clean up routine did not fix it and I did not find the windows hcilmclear until afterwards)

But..all in all… I would just like to know why that might have happened. I can not access the log, for I had to do a number of restarts, and I did not save the old logs. I also checked the anti-virus scan, and that did not affect it. Does anyone have an idea or explanation for me?

      Thank you,

      Julie

          Hi Julie,

yeah, when your sites went down all the processes were locked.

Based on your info, your network went down. Ok but your system was up.

You have the server running on one server and you are connecting via your work station.

          – When the network down, processes still will be running on the server.

Howver you lost connection with receiving and sending systems.

When the network comes back up, it would establish the connection to others.

Since you had the dbvista error -921, I would use the following:

          hcilmclear

Cleans up after a crashed engine that has not disconnected from the Lock Manager properly.

          Input: hcilmclear -p [-v]

          Where:

-p specifies the name of the engine process to clean up.

           -v specifies verbose mode.

In most cases, this command should run automatically, but the command can also be run manually.

This command clears up database problems, such as db_vista -921. This utility should also eliminate the need to shut down the entire site in order to cycle the Lock Manager just because one process crashed or did not shut down properly.

          Hope this helps.

            Hello,

            THank you for your reply.

Yes, I do understand that the service and processes where running when the network was down, and that they should have reconnected after it was back up. That is why I am confused that I got this error, I am trying to figure out how I got that error.

I also, now, know about the lmclear…but that was after the rush of the drama to repair the system as quick as we knew how.

            any other words of wisdom?

            THanks,

            Julie
