We are in the process of converting from 5.2 to 5.4.1 using AIX and was wondering if anyone has noticed any difference in the cpu processing between 5.2 and 5.4.1. We are working on getting a quote for the new hardware and was just wanting to get some opinions.
What version did you start out with – and were configured for?
We went live with 5.2, and are currently on 5.3, AIX 5.2. We will not need a hardware upgrade – I was told the need for a hardware upgrade is for folks who started out with (and were configured for) earlier versions…
As long as you’re not experiencing any problems currently, and since you’re already running a version 5 platform – you probably don’t need to worry about any hardware upgrade… Unless, of course, you’re anticipating a huge increase to your daily transaction volume with new interfaces, etc.
