X12 997 Functional Acknowledgement

Clovertechies,

We have an application that sends X12N 4010 270 transactions to Cloverleaf.  They would like to receive a 997 functional acknowledgement back when the engine does not have a 271 available.  Does anyone have a 270 -> 997 translation available or know where to locate high-level guidelines for producing the 997?

Any ideas on why Cloverleaf shows a 997 transaction for 004010 but not for X12N-004010?  We’ve done lots of HL7, but the X12 is still pretty new to us.
