HACMP again

My lab has hired a company to implement HACMP with shared disks on a SAN for our interface engine (CL 5.3). We currently have a P630/AIX 5.1 as our prod box and a old AIX test box (running 5.2) that’s about to be retired to the dust bin. There is no high availability/failover other than that of the laborious persuasion (although we’ve hardly had any problems…yet).

Our new prod box will be a 520 and the P630 will become the test box, both which will be on the SAN and be used for failover.

Are there any specific issues/problems/things to consider with this type of configuration, and what are the licensing requirements? Can we continue to use the test and prod licenses or (as I assume) will we need a special HACMP license? (I have emailed our rep for this, but haven’t heard back yet — and “we” are moving fast to implement this new configuration). And will there be some practical differences from the way we currently use the test & prod sites on separate boxes?

I’ve looked through the archives regarding the use of HACMP and shared disks, but unfortunately I don’t have much of a context in order to fully understand how it all works — so my apologies for submitting a repeat question. If there’s more info you need just let me know.

      Many thanks.
